Wipe and coast not working on Adventurer 3?

I tried to fix the z-seam and stringing problem I have by enabling wipe and coast.
The problem: different coast settings make no difference and wipe makes my extruder motor to stop working at all. It works for 5-30min and then it just stops spinning (x,y and z still move).

Does the Flashforge Adventurer 3 not support wipe and coast? Do I have to enable something else to make it work?

I don't think it's a hardware problem (overheating), because without these features it prints fine.


Already reinstalled software and updated printer firmware.

Coasting merely alters when the retraction occurs and decreases how much extrusion is performed across the last segments of extruded lines.

Wiping adds X and Y movements after the retraction takes place.

Neither of these software options should result in your extruder motor not working. Is your extruder motor not moving or are you just seeing no extrusion take place at the beginning of new perimeters?

If your extruder motor is still moving but you're not seeing extrusions you can try adding some Extra restart distance. This will prime additional filament into the hotend when the extruder is returning to 0 position after retractions.

The motor is not moving. No extraction, no retraction. But only when I enable wipe.

Sometimes it happens at the beginning, sometimes 30min into the print. But once it stops, it stops for the rest of the "print"


I just leave it off for now. Hopefully "Coasting" and "extra restart distance" do a good enough job without trying different settings for each print once I found a near perfect setting.

I found a solution:

Apparently the newest firmware (the one that introduced 9-point leveling) is broken, at least for me.
Deactivating this did NOT help, but installing an older firmware did.

So far the first test prints I did worked without issues.
