Customizing Manual Support?

I searched and could not find much on this, but I'm sure its covered somewhere...so sorry if I'm reposting. I have found several times that S3D stops me from putting support in certain places and from certain view points...not sure if there is some restriction on how far or close to the model you need to be...but its somewhat frustrating to go in the z view and not be able to add support where I want it, but go from a side or angle view and have it let me...what am I doing wrong?

Re: Customizing Manual Support?

it will really only allow you to add support under something so as it gets close to the edge there wont be enough contact to activate that support pillar on the grid. the support in s3d is generated in a grid pattern so you need to activate each block on the grid. you can set the grid to a smaller size to fine tune it in. once its close to where you want it and you feel you would like the support to be wider then set the support inflation distance. 1mm is usually sufficient for most situations.

Re: Customizing Manual Support?

Makes sense...I have played with all the settings...guess I just have to get more used to how it interacts with the model. Thanks for your input.
