Makerbot Rep 2 build size set smaller

I am printing a shoe diagonally on the Makerbot. Makerbot says the build volume is 285 x 153 x 155 (11.2" x 6.0" x 6.1").

In Simplify3D, the Makerbot Replicator 2 profile has 280 x 150 x 150. I'm going to try setting the Simplify2D Makerbot profile to 284 x 152 x 152 because I need that little bit of extra room. I guess I try it and find out if it will crash and loose steps.

Does anybody have any feedback on this? Users? Simplify3D folks?

My recommendation would be to go for it, if it's not going to work you'll know by the first layer.

Edit: also make sure not to use a skirt!!
