I'm trying to update to 4.1 on a 64bit Win7 computer. It runs 4.0 no problem. During install/upgrade to 4.1 the install freezes at "creating desktop icon" and will not proceed. Any idea what might be causing this?
Is there any fix for this? I can not get it to install and it just freezes up on Creating Desktop Shortcut for Simplify 3D. I expect more for a program that I have to pay for.
Do what the guys in support advise you to do. Which is what Support for the paid-for software is all about!
Because an installation doesn't complete, it doesn't necessarily mean there is a software issue that requires a coding change. There could be one of a thousand environmental situations on your computer that is causing the process to stall.
I have completed all of the steps that have been given to me by customer support including deleting things from my registry, which by the way no one should need to do to install a program! I have not been able to use this program now for going on a year. Because of an update this program no longer works with NVIDIA video card users with 2 screens. So i waited for another update, uninstalled, deleted everything that was left behind, multiple times, and it still is hanging up on making this stupid shortcut on my desktop. So please has ANYONE found a work around or a solve for this issue? Because there is nothing else for me to delete or change without doing a full reinstall of windows!
Ok, so the install is still hanging when it gets to the creating desktop shortcut, but they sent me a full install in a zip folder, that the program opened to the log in part then froze completely and stopped responding. Hopefully this information can help the DEVs to get some kind of resolution.
And now after deleting everything and restarting again, it is doing the same thing and not even opening. it is on the task manager but never actually shoes up.
