Mac version stalls

I have an iMac and usually print from card, but this time as the print was only going to take a couple of hours decided to print via USB. I have noticed that if I blank my macs screen, the printer stops after a few mins with full heat burning the plastic. Why is this makerware does not suffer from this.

Anyone else ?

Re: Mac version stalls

funny, i have actually sent support an email a long time ago that s3d keeps the monitors from going to sleep. the response was that the monitors sleeping can occasionally disrupt the printing. i have never had this issue so i wish the monitors would just sleep on their own. i can be printing on my imac over usb and force sleep the monitors and it will continue to print no problem. i have never had the print stop on my system. late 09 imac i5.

Re: Mac version stalls

Indeed, I sleep my monitor by setting up a hot corner and moving the mouse there, or by pressing ctrl > Shift > Eject. Then a few mins later printing stops, for what its worth its the same for me if the monitor is on and S3D is not the windows selected. If I minimise it or cover that window up completely with another then it stalls again. If just part of the program window is visible then it works ok (unless the monitor is sleep)

MakerWare does not do this, but I think thats down to the background service.

Wow yeah man i dont have that issue at all. I always have both s3d windows hidden ,reduced or on another desktop. Never had it interrupt printing like that. Send an email to support. It has to be a setting in osx somewhere.

Re: Mac version stalls

Check your energy saver preferences, if the first checkbox is unticked it may be causing your computer to sleep after the display is off for a period of time.

Re: Mac version stalls

Mine works fine and it's like yours except I have put hard drive to sleep when possible and NOT Wake for network (not sure if this is causing it but you could try).

Hi,

No its not that - which USB port is your printer on and what make is your printer.
