Import or Export to Network Share

Using Version 5.0, I can’t export gcode to Windows network share drive folder (for example, Q:\GCode). Also, can’t import STL files from network share drives either. Lastly, dragging STLs onto the buld plate doesn’t seem to work. Windows 11 Pro 64-bit, Simplify3D 5.0.

Re: Import or Export to Network Share

Are you able to import and export to directories on the C drive? Just want to make sure this is truly only affecting the network drive.

When you said dragging STL files into the software didn't work, were those also being dragged from the network drive folder?

Importing/exporting from a local drive, such as C, works fine.

Dragging and dropping from any drive, local or network, does not work.

Re: Import or Export to Network Share

Not that it helps much at this point but I just tested V5 on one PC and imported an STL from a mapped network drive to my main PC.
I was able to go to the networked (mapped) drive and select an STL and it imported ok.

Re: Import or Export to Network Share

What operating system are you running? I have two installations of v5 - one on Windows 11 Pro 64-bit and one on Windows 10 64-bit. The Windows 10 install CAN import from a network share - however, the Windows 11 install cannot.

This makes me think it has nothing to do with the network drive. If you can't even drag and drop files from the local drive, then I doubt any other drive would work either.

I just ran a test on a few Windows computers here and had no trouble dragging and dropping a file from the local drive. Is anyone else unable to drag and drop files on Windows from a LOCAL drive?

I am on Windows 11.
I just tried to drag an STL to the S3D icon. Wait for it to say "open with s3D" then release click and it opened after a little bit.
Then tried to drag an STL to S3D while it is open and it loaded the file.
The STL file was on a network shared folder.
Both machines are Win11.

Re: Import or Export to Network Share

I seemed to have solved my issue. Here’s what I did in case someone finds themselves with similar symptoms:

Uninstalled v5.
Rebooted.
Reinstalled v5, but did not start it up.
Rebooted.
Started v5, all my settings were intact from the previous partially functional install, and now I can import/export to mapped networked drives and can drag n drop STLs from local or network drives with no issue.

Must have been gremlins. Thanks for the responses, everyone.
