V5.0 will freeze / crash windows after x amount of time

If you have something sliced in V5.0 and minimize it to the task bar for about 3 hrs and try to maximize it , then it will freeze up and lock your PC.

Only a Hard reset will fix it.

I have 64gb RAM, I9-7700 processor so that's not the problem.

I need to remind me everytime, to make sure i close it, otherwise i am SOL.

Re: V5.0 will freeze / crash windows after x amount of time

I don't think anyone here has been able to reproduce this yet. We usually have S3D open all day and haven't noticed the freezing issues you mentioned.

Do you think it could be related to power saving or "app nap" settings on the computer? We have seen cases in the past with V4 where that would cause the app to be frozen when not in use.

What operating system version are you using?

Re: V5.0 will freeze / crash windows after x amount of time

It could be the screen lock (windows lock screen) / powersaving.. (just the screen turns off, not the pc)

Using Windows 10 atm.

I am able to get it to fail every time.

1. open Simplify 3D
2. Open STL
3. Minimize to taskbar.
4. Lock screen.
5. come back 2-3 hours later (maybe it will happen, right away. guess I would need to test that)
6. unlock Windows
7. Maximize Simplify 3D
8. PC frozen.

ok tested it, but then it's still working fine,..

it really happens after 2-3 hours when the pc is not used.

Re: V5.0 will freeze / crash windows after x amount of time

Those steps above didn't seem to reproduce the problem here. Let us know if there's any other specifics steps we have to take to see the same issue. It will be much easier for the team to fix it if they can recreate it.
