5.0.1 crashes slicing this model

The famous Honeycomb Wall organizer: https://www.printables.com/model/152592 ... wall/files

The large model crashes when trying to slice the whole model.
If I set a custom zone to print only up to 7mm height, it doesn't crash. But anything above that, or the entire object, it will crash.

STL attached.

Re: 5.0.1 crashes slicing this model

I first setup S3D v5.0.1 for a CR-10 max printer (so that I could get the larger bed size required for the provided STL model).

Using that default CR-10 profile, I sliced the model without issue. No hiccups, crashes, etc...

Can you provide the factory file that you're using? That'll give us a better hint as to what may be happening in terms of crashing.

Thank you for looking.

See attached the factory file.

If I set the custom zone to stop at height 6mm it doesn't crash.

I can easily reproduce the crash on my machine with the .factory file you've provided.

Using your printer profile, I've imported other STLs, scaled them up to ridiculous sizes (filling up the full print volume) and slicing occurred without crashing. The crash only occurs when using the included model and machine settings in the .factory file.

Based on your machine's settings, I'm assuming that you're using the Vivedino Troodon (please correct me if my assumption is incorrect)
for which S3D doesn't have a built-in machine profile. So I went about and quickly created a new machine profile for it, imported your
model and using the newly created profile's default settings, sliced the model without having v5 instantly crash. See attached image
of the result.

Have you tried to recreate your machine's profile from scratch in v5? (don't use the import FFF profile feature).

Kindly let me know,

Cheers,

D.

Thank you D. for all the effort.

My profile was created on 4.x and then migrated to 5.0.0. You are correct, that's the Vivedino Troodon 300x300x400.

I will create it again, that's not too hard, I will try it out now.
There are only a few inserts on the scripts that I have fully customised, but I assumed those wouldn't make a difference for crashing.

I wonder what do I have on the .factory that could make this crash, and also with only this model.

Thanks,
Joao

Re: 5.0.1 crashes slicing this model

Joao,

When I was trying to not have S3D v5 crash with your .factory file, one of the steps that I undertook was to
comment out all of your scripts before slicing. So based on that, it's safe to say that your scripts are not the root
cause of the crash.

When you'd metioned
My profile was created on 4.x and then migrated to 5.0.0.
it got me thinking that perhaps there's bug with the profile importer section of v5's code.

It'll be interesting to see what the S3D team has to say about this once they have a look at it.
