v5.1: M1 native support?

Hi!

Was that a marketing gimmick? Because my M1 shows it as an Intel App, not a native M1 app....

Re: v5.1: M1 native support?

I looked at activity monitor and it says "apple" not intel.

It is definately ARM, here is 5.0.1 vs 5.1

YOu can see 5.1 is universal ( means both intel and ARM in same package )

S3D 5.1 works on M1, but it is very slow, almoust unusable when you need to display and check g-code preview (larger objects).
Ideamaker is 100x faster: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=P ... WKrc51QURp

Did you even test v5.1? Looking at creation/modification date and size this does look like
a release < 5.1, especially when compared to the screenshot provied by symonty...?

So you're saying the 5.1 release from yesterday in native mode is running as slow as the previous versions
utilizing Rosetta as shown in those 4 months old videos?

Re: v5.1: M1 native support?

I tryed version 5.1 today, and it is quicker than 5.0.1, but still far a way from IdeaMaker.
There is still few seconds waiting time between movements.
Here is the video, I did smooth movements with the mouse, but there was a large delay between the display of the movement steps, which should also be smooth. While the processor load is minimal, 16GB Ram should be enough. The bug will be in the software, native M1 support is probably not enough.

Re: v5.1: M1 native support?

As you can see in my previous screen capture video, the CPU utilization graph refresh is smooth until the g-code is displayed. Then it all starts to get very jerky. After turning off the g-code display, everything runs smoothly again.

So here is a video with Ideamaker and the same STL file and the same slicer settings. As you can see, everything is great and smooth. So the S3D developers still have a long way to go.

Re: v5.1: M1 native support?

Hi, version 5.1.1 is out, but there is no improvement. G-code preview is still unusable... Dear S3D developers, why don't you bother to create the right software for the Silicon Mac? Do you have so few M1 customers? Enjoy the money I gave you...
