First Layer "holes"

Hi everyone,

I am new in 3D printing, I just bought a printer (Zyyx) and I am trying
to use it.

I use simplify 3D to generate the print. Everything works fine but in the first layer
I have notice "holes" (see picture attached) in the structure and for some smalls prints I would like to have a solid
first layer.

I tried quite everything but I did not managed to get rid of those "holes"

Can someone tell me how to do it because I am sure that there is a setting for that.

Sorry for my english this is not my mother tongue.

4) Factory files – a combined file to retain your entire project
Saving a Factory File picSimplify3D offers a unique way to save all the information about your project into one comprehensive file, known as a “Factory File”. The Factory File includes a copy of the 3D models that have been imported, their positions on the bed, your Process settings, and any custom support material that has been created.

Whenever you exit the Simplify3D Software, the state of the application is automatically saved so that you can easily resume where you left off the next time you open the program. There is no need to save a Factory File each time you close and reopen the program. However, there are other times you may want to save this file such as sharing your project with a friend or creating a back-up for personal use.

To save a Factory File: in the top menu bar, click File > Save Factory File As.

If you post a Factory File, I think that would be really helpful for other people to give advice for this print.

Re: First Layer "holes"

Does the GCode preview shoes the gaps, or is it a solid surface? I suspect a problem with the model itself, not S3D settings.

Re: First Layer "holes"

Hi,

Thanks for the answers. I am at the office right now
but as soon as I return home I will try a new one and save
the factory profile.

The surface should be solid I just created a rectangle with sketchup.

In fact the holes are sometimes different depending my settings.

I will post that later today.

Thanks a lot.

Re: First Layer "holes"

So I did another try yesterday. In that one the infill Angle are 45 -45

The factory file is attached and here is the picture.

You can see the "holes" on it. They are not random I think they follow a pattern but I am not able to find where to cancel them.

Thanks in advance for you help.

Raft with hole
Raft with hole
Nearly the same problem the last 3 days.
I couldn't uncheck raft without unchecking also skirt and when unchecked, S3D make anyway raft with holes.
After new installing the program it looked better, but I needed to remove the object, uncheck the box "Save and Restore ..." in Tools/Options, close the program and restart the computer; than loading a older factory-file - and it goes fine. Now check the box "Save ..."

The prints output where bad as in the preview shown.

Re: First Layer "holes"

did any of you guys run the stl through netfabb to check it? if your using sketchup there is a good chance the model is bad. problems with models are not always obvious but they will create havoc on slicers.

Re: First Layer "holes"

Surely. But this appearances were independent of the objects, even older objects also as import of factory-files, which were print a couple of days before without faults.
I also had tried the unchecking of Save ans Restore - before uninstalling and re-install the program, no success.
But when the object contains mistakes, what is the correlation to raft and skirt? S3D had drawn the contour correct and let open a band and / or omited complete raft base layers.

Re: First Layer "holes"

At the moment I have tested the same objekt 2x (not repaired https://netfabb.azurewebsites.net/ and repaired = -fixed) with the same result.
When I click to Prepare To Print without changing the position or lift up, skirt and raft are normal. But when I change the Position by turning and lifting to the table, then the preview mode shows the object totaly without skirt and raft. In all cases the boxes of Skirt and Raft are checked ON.
