Refusing to correctly slice this model. Pulling my hair out here :-)

This is driving me batty. it seems no matter what I do it simply REFUSE to slice this model without gaping holes (entire layers "delete" for reason on it knows)

there are no errors I can find in the model. prusa slicer says no errors. netfabb says no errors.

but at literally RANDOM points in the model it injects errors and NOTHING I change removes them. I can MOVE the errors but not remove them. change a setting alter layer height or scaling etc.. and the errors "move around" but they remove to be gone.

I Just don't know what else to do. I have sliced this cone literally hundreds of times. no issues. I add 4 fins to this one and it throws a fit and refuses to slice it. move the start point inside and its one set of errors move the start point outside and its a DIFFERENT set of errors (I am calling the missing chunks errors)

its like its mocking me or something Grrrrrr

ANY Ideas why it refuses to slice this model? I even got rid of all my processes and sliced it as one single process. no joy. the model is clean of errors and the height of the model is evenly divisible by the sliced layer height. the errors simply should not be their.

Would appreciate any ideas to nail this bug down.....

Re: Refusing to correctly slice this model. Pulling my hair out here :-)

I've only loaded the file and sliced it, will not try printing though. I see a gap in the layers going from 367 to 368. Would it be possible to obtain something other than a factory file such as what ever model was used, stl, stp, 3mf, etc to test with?

edit, looking closer, was this modeled specifically for vase mode? Such as maybe the walls are somewhere near 0.6mm thick? Can't say for certain but if modeled like that it could be part of the problem. I see other layer gaps elsewhere (they stand out where the outer vertical seam joins) as well as I saw what appears to be a random spike sticking out of one of those internal fins.

Re: Refusing to correctly slice this model. Pulling my hair out here :-)

those layer gaps "ARE" the problem. they don't exist. they are created by the slicer not my model. try changing layer height. try altering the height of the model. move the start point from 130x130 (center of plate) to "fastest" and watch it erase those gaps and "Create" new ones somewhere else. randomly.

the model is "solid" and "single wall" it is vase mode compliant (there are cuts and slices to create the "complex structure" while retaining vase mode compatibility.

S3D didn't report no errors but it did slice it. You mentioned other slicers, have you tried any other slicer and then tried to print it...assuming no errors of course. At this point I'd guess it might be something going on with v5 of S3D..and move on and find something else to slice and print it successfully.

catch 22. prusa slicer has superior error correction in this regard but it lacks multi process capabilities.

Multi Process is sooo damned powerful.
