Backup profile/process

I own 3 printers currently, and I have setup about 10 processes for the profiles.

Yesterday I unplugged my Mac mini while Simplify 3d was open. When restarted Simplify 3d I deleted 2 of my printer profiles and restored a profile I delete months ago, when I returned that printer. Not to mention the 10 processes I had dropped to 4 and 2 were for the old printer.

I re added my printers and Simplify 3d deleted ALL processes.

Question: How do I backup/restore my printer profiles & processes? Yes I see the export printer profile, but that did not include processes.

Re: Backup profile/process

With V5, your profiles are already backed up to the file system the moment you save them. Browse to the following directory:
C:/Users/%USERNAME%/AppData/Local/Simplify3D/S3D-Software-V5/Profiles

You will see the XML files for each of your profiles. If you need to re-import them for some reason (such as when transferring from another computer or backup), just go to File > Import Printer Profiles, change the file type to "all files" at the bottom, and select the files.

For the processes, those are saved when you close and reopen the software. However, if your desktop computer lower power that triggers an immediate shutdown of the entire system and doesn't allow any programs to save anything. So any processes that you were working on at the time may be lost. If that happens a lot, might be a good idea to invest in a UPS power supply so that you don't get hard forced shutdowns with your desktop computer.

Re: Backup profile/process

Good info, but I'm on a MacMini. Any idea where they are on a Mac?

Re: Backup profile/process

On Mac the files are located at /Users/$USER/Library/Application\ Support/Simplify3D/S3D-Software-V5/Profiles

For reference, the folders and paths where different settings and files are stored are also explained on our FAQ page here:
