eliminating wall gaps?

The changelog for v2.2 says this:

Improved slicing to avoid gaps between thin walls

Are the outer perimeters thinned to allow a fill, or are they widened so they touch? Or is the overall wall thickness reduced? The sample photo is too low res for me to really tell.

It doesnt change the width of the part, it just tells the slice settings that if the user wants, to allow filling in between thin walls instead of leaving it empty

Thanks. I guess I just did not understand how it could be empty in the first place, if it was wide enough to fill.
