Dual extrusion does not change tools

Hi,

I am trying to print a 2 color thing on a FF Creator. I am using latest 2.1.2 version. I have reseted all settings at least once while trying to print this.

I am printing a small thing, size of a large coin, right extruder (red). On the coin there is an image printed with the other (left, white) extruder. But when it has started to print with the left extruder it does not go back and use the right extruder again so the top layer will be all "white".

I did try to increase the speed on one extruder just so I could see in the display that the parts are sliced as expected and they are, just that exported files seem to have lost the tool change?!? what can I be doing wrong? and what should I do?

Regards,
Edward

ps.
Please note that the attached project has the speed for the right extruder to 9600 (from 4600) to show the activity better. But printed the top coin layer is white while it should be red...

That's nifty about changing the speed, I plant to use that trick. This looks like Firmware Configuration. Try going to Tools then to Firmware Configuration and under the Makerbot profile's X3G tab it should read Replicator 1 dual extruders since the FF creator is a clone

Yes I have that set. Actually looking at the G-code also reveal the same problem, not switching back to the "right" extruder (M135 T0). I'll attach all files. I am not going to print anything until I get a reasonable G-code file.

More info: Mac OS X 10.9.5, Simplify 3D 2.1.2

Re: Dual extrusion does not change tools

I am having a similar problem with a Wanhao Duplicator 4x.

I am using the left extruder as the primary extruder and printing supports with the right. After doing everything for the left extruder on the firts layer, it moves the print head so the right extruder is where it should be printing the supports, but then proceeds to extrude from the left one anyway.

The Firmware configuration for Machine Profile was set to "Replicator 1 - dual extruder" by default and I verified that setting it to "Replicator 2X" (which is what the wanhao duplicator 4X appears to be derived from) didn't give me any different result.

It looks like it's slicing everything up correctly, but not actually communicating the toolhead change to the machine.

Re: Dual extrusion does not change tools

Has anyone heard any resolution on this? I am seeing the same issue that generated gcode does not change tools

Same issue with the Sharebot NG dual extrusion... specifically in layer 3 (second layer with Tool0). After that layer, it works perfectly.

Re: Dual extrusion does not change tools

I just did two test prints using the left extruder as the primary extruder and printing supports with the right. It worked fine on my Felix 3.0 printer,
Felix 3.0 printer w/the Prometheus system, Eclipse3D v1.1 & v2.1, Moai SLA 3D printer.
