Why are you using the -m flag if you created a custom gpx.ini file?

From the link I posted earlier:

3. The machine defs are ignored when gpx is given the "-m MACHINE-TYPE" switch.

That fixed it. I'm clearly still wallowing in the basics.

Now comes the fun of tuning this thing (and having the settings actually do something!)
