dual extruders on delta question.

I am building my first delta printer and have some thoughts.

I was thinking of running (testing/trying) 2 extruders, one powered by a ultibots microextruder running for 3mm filament (for flex materials).
Then i would like to have the second extruder being a bowden with 1.75mm filament (for normal materials).

But i guess it is not possible to run 2 different filament diameters in s3d ?
If not, are there ANY software that does that?

Re: dual extruders on delta question.

If you use multiple processes, you can utilize two different nozzle diameters, or if youre using a single process yiu will need to set the filament diameter correctly for one if the nozzles, then adjust the extrusion multiplier for the second nozzle to compensate for the different sized filament

Adjusting extrusion multiplier sounds like a lot of experimenting to do.

Unless you calculate it

For extrusion multipliers; lets say you filament diameter was set to 1.75 mm, but your second nozzle used 3 mm filament. To change the extrusion multiplier for the second nozzle, I would calculate by doing the following.

Since area is pi*radius^2, pi would cancel and the extrusion multiplier needed would be scaled to be proportional to the radius's squared.

(filament diameter Other Nozzle/2)^2 / ((filament diameter Nozzle Used/2)^2)

(1.75/2)^2 / ((3/2)^2) = .340277 extrusion multiplier for your 3 mm filament nozzle.

You could also do this using two processes I believe.

Re: dual extruders on delta question.

What are the odds you're going to extrude flexible filament and solid filament in one process?

2 processes specifying 2 different diameters, simple.
