Add new supports under existing ones?

Is there a way to manually add new supports to help hold up existing ones that have a large horizontal bottom area that doesn't contact the model or platform? Supports that have their base on curved surfaces of the model often have their flat bottom hanging out in space, especially when you use extra inflation. It would be great if you can have new supports detect the existing ones when you are placing them and terminate their tops based on that (instead of only detecting the actual model).

Here is an example of what I'm talking about. It would be good to add more supports to hold up the ones jutting out in the middle.

Another option would be to have the bottoms of supports that don't meet the model but instead rest on the model conform to the model's surface. In other words, don't make the bottoms flat in these cases...have them contoured to meet the surface underneath. Make sense?

those are just support indicators. what does the support look like in the preview after its sliced? thats what counts. if you want better detail lower the size of your support grid.

The are hanging out in the wind even more due to a 1mm inflation setting. I will post a screen grab when I get home tonight. So, have a smaller mm supports (using 4mm now) but just add more but smaller ones should to the trick and better conform to the geo. Makes sense!

yup, 4mm is big. its fine for real large prints and more for machine or engineering parts. large square and blocky pieces. i keep mine set at 2mm for normal printing then if i have something smaller or fine detailed stuff like you have there then i drop to 1mm.
