[ADDED] Factory File Should Save Model Scale

It seems strange that the scale is the only bit that does not get saved.

YES agreed! I went back, re-opened a model I couldn't remember if I scaled it or not(for exact size) and ended up double scaling it because I saw it wasn't scaled - I was wrong!

Agree too. Please add the scale factor.

+1

I posted the same request last week. Being able to do transformations relative to your original imported model's position, rotation and scale is essential. I was a little shocked to find it gets reset on save/ load of the factory file!

Re: Factory File Should Save Model Scale

I think it actually does save the scale, but then calls up the model already scaled up and shows the scale factor as 1. SO very confusing to say the least.

Re: Factory File Should Save Model Scale

i never did any testing to find out. if in fact the model does stay scaled like you say but it reverts the value back to 1 then something needs to be done with that. thats just doesnt make sense and can be a big waste of a print. you really have no idea what size your model is. on dimensionally accurate parts this just doesnt work. i have some parts i print for a company on a regular basis that need to be dead nuts on the money. i know when i print in petg that to make up for the shrink it needs to be scaled up .4% to bring it back into spec. if i save that factory file...and i do for every po i get, if i reopen it and the scale reads 1 then what the hell is happening there? is it sized right is it not sized right? who knows. up until now, to be sure i remove the model and reload the original stl then scale up all over again. in any case the scal factor of the model should be saved and show correctly.

edit: i just tested this. it DOES save the scale but the scale factor reverts to 1. this is bad and really needs to be fixed. this value needs to be saved and shown, not reverted.

Yup I was not lying. But I can understand why you didn't believe me. I couldn't believe it myself when I totally screwed up a 10 hour print job. That was a lesson I haven't forgotten.

Re: Factory File Should Save Model Scale

This has been added in version 3.0. If you edit the scale of a model and then close and reopen the software, the scale will be shown correctly as your changed value. This video has more details about the new model settings panel where you will see these changes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i5rLVYpeoXU
