First layer issues.

I am coming over from Repetier-Host and slic3r. My first layer prints with them were glass smooth on my heated bed with kapton tape. but not with Simplify3D they are no were near the same.

what i have noticed is that the perimeter layers dont seem to be getting pushed together and then the first fill layer is the same it leaves small holes next to the perimeters layers.

My printer is a Printrbot Simple Metal, with a .4 tip using 1.75mm filament.
My first layer settings are:
Height 100%
Width 100%
speed 50%

if any other settings are needed let me know and i will post them. I am just not sure where to start to try to fix this.

To start, I would suggest reading this: https://www.simplify3d.com/support/tuto ... rst-layer/

You might want to use a first layer height of 150-200% to create a nice thick first layer. May also need to increase your extrusion multiplier if the higher layers still have gaps between perimeters.

Joe, ill bump it up to 150% and do some test prints and increase it if need be. Should i also increase the width %?

Re: First layer issues.

You could, but I'm not sure it's necessary. Probably depends on what your original layer height was.

For example, if you have a 0.4mm diameter nozzle and your original layer height was 0.3mm, then when you use a 200% first layer height the first layer would now be printed at 0.6mm tall. Of course, you cannot print an extrusion that is 0.6mm tall and only 0.4mm wide, so you would likely want to increase the first layer width accordingly. However, if you were printing at 0.1mm layers, this probably wouldn't be necessary at all. So you can make the decision based on what layer height you are printing at.
