Here is a good example of S3Ds latest horizontal size compensation feature. I took -.15mm off the ring part on this to make the threads perfectly fit together. Threads like it was tap and died.

Printed this cross sectioned jet from a file on thingiverse. printer was a modified Makerbot Rep 2
Clean print with minimal cleanup. I added a bit of weathering to make it look used.

btw Looking at the photos in the second link, you need to be aware the gauge of the track is 3mm.

Here is a project that was only made possible through to the 3D Simplify!

I believe this is the first metal detector with structure 100% printed in 3D ever created. Recently came out an article about it on the site 3DPI:

The detector was fully printed in ABS on a Cartesian cubic printer designed and built by myself and I baptized of Protobot.

To produce the threaded rods I used three different processes, there are threads in the top and bottom of the piece, I used 0.15 layer height in the region of the threads and 0.28 to print the central body to increase the speed printing.

I tried to position the other parts so as to avoid the use of supports.

The hardest part of making was precisely the coil, because of the difficulty to printing large pieces in abs due to the problem of WARP.

I made the impression in two stages, it was necessary to introduce a break in the g-code so I could stop printing to insert the copper coil inside and then resume printing hermetically enclosing the coil.

Hello Dunginhawk! Until now i no have plans to make available or to sell the files... but I do not exclude this possibility in the near future. I'm working on a new smaller and lighter version.

This is ABS, Simplify3D, 235c degree, 0.15mm, 7h25mins, 163mm tall.

Simplify3D provides most easiest supports removal. Can't believe it's so cool.
