I own one of these 'Rapide Lite 200' and I am very happy with it (the smaller version, with 'only' 200mm build height, everything else is the same).

They have available dual extruder as an add-on.
And if you are fast you can get this printer delivered in May for only $999.

When I bought mine I waited more than 6 months for the campaign to end and everything worked really well, delivered on time. So I guess this will also be shipped as announced.
If you are interested in the not so tallest version, here is the link, but the cost now is the same $999: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/rapi ... /x/9111896

I hated the AW3D HD2x. It looked nice though. Cost me $600 to learn that lesson (restocking fee).

I have the Taz 5 and like it, but like all printers needs a few upgrades to make it work great. But it's pretty good stock. Dual extruder option is easy to install. The most important upgrade you need to do is the x-axis shafts (harder steel) and bushings removed and replaced with linear bearings. Too much play in them as stock. Really like the printer though. Also you'll need an enclosure which I am currently building for mine. Once you upgrade the x-axis, get an enclosure, the Taz 5 is pretty awesome imo. The PEI covered heated glass build plate is so sticky it's almost problematic lol. You will not have ABS prints peeling off of this bed (if you keep the temp at 100-110 c).

Surprised to hear the makerbot comment but then again I understand their new printers are bad. I have a heavily modified R2 the prints just amazing quality. Some parts look injection molded. I love my R2 (but I did just about every upgrade possible). You can pry that printer from my cold dead hands.

The optional lcd control item is grayed out in their store. However Rick from Makergear emailed me saying they will be back in stock in about a week.

I have a MendelMax 2 and bought that over Makergear because of build volume...the MenelMax 3 looks bad ass...and has a great active group that has helped me morning noon or night. makerstoolworks.com

I did my research and a fully modded R2 was added to my fully modded R1. Both run continuous and print extremely well. Friends that went other directions (Rostock, Reprap etc) still sub me out on jobs that need perfection.

Do you mean Replicator 2 or the Robo R2?

**Edit** I noticed that the Robo R2 isn't shipping yet so can only assume you are talking Replicator here. Unfortunately I've heard too many bad things about their post 2nd gen machines and support.

Yup that's been my experience as well. I still haven't seen prints better than what I get on my modded R2 either. And it's fast.
