I've been having terrible issues with the Windows 10 serial driver as well. It seems to just stop working randomly. This is going to be a big issue for people if they don't fix it quickly!

I am holding off upgrading.. at least on my primary computer for this reason as well as many other reasons.. there is a list a mile long of reasons to not upgrade to windows 10 aside from the fact that its recording so much activity that it basically the equivalent to having built in malware and keyloggers. But this is not the forum for this discussion..
