Ok, that's great. I had the support problem happen twice, both on 25+ hour prints, so it's a bit stressful. These are my settings..

Yep - you see the area labeled Lower Vertical Separation Layers? That specifies to Simplify3D to print nothing for one layer above your part before starting to print support on the next layer. This is very effective at making support easy to remove, including making it easy to knock over a tall skinny pillar. Lower that to zero at the start of the print so that it adheres, and use multiple processes to have support separation where you do need it.
