Re: bridging not triggering

I won't call it a bug. The way bridging works in S3D is to force the infill use the orthogonal direction to the outer parts wich supports the bridge (like the outlines). So it works well for me like it is.
That works when you configure your whole print to work the same way bridging does (slow, with cooling) but if you want to get maximum out of your printer you want your non-bridging parts to print at higher speeds. When you do so then the perimeters "fall off" and the infill is printed ok (as it triggers bridging), in some cases, when bridging direction is not messed up. If you want to print stronger part and you use more shells it gets even worse and all those shells fall off the bridge :(

Re: bridging not triggering

Hello world,

As a first post i'd like to thank you for making S3D so feature rich to be the slicer-of-choise for advanced printing!
Unfortunately due to this issue it greatly limits its ability to take advantage and result in advanced (magic) prints.

Is there any update for the bug fix/ work-around for outline perimeter bridging not being printed with the bridging settings?

While it's possible to make a stringing PLA to survive throught the gap (with much other tunings), I'm printing in ABS and the only way to make bridging line happen is with 10% speed, 100% fan, 100% extrusion - which is amazing i can set all this in S3D and the bridging inner lines come out perfectly straight and strong.

However once the nozzle gets to the layer with the bridge it starts by printing the outline first with outline settings so it goes through the air with 80% speed, no fan, 85% extrusion and ofcourse it results in a mess.

I have read throught most-if-not-every discussion around forums and i see this problem have been well documented and discussed for nearly 5 years, unfortunately no one found a way to avoid it so far (which is probably why we see hardly any shared pics of prints with bridging+ABS).

Is there a way to make this reality and how soon?
Thank you!

Re: bridging not triggering

Version 4 (not sure about earlier ones) allows you to use either normal perimeter settings or bridging settings for the perimeter of a bridged region. I'm not sure which you are using, but you might try the other to see if it helps.

Re: [FIXED] bridging not triggering

As other posters noted, this feature was added in Version 4.0. We must have missed this topic as we were updating everything on the forum to document the new addition. You can now choose the exact settings that are used for the perimeters of the bridging regions.

For more information, you can refer so the prior posts below:

We have tried to update all of the posts on this forum to make sure the changes are mentioned, but if you see another topic somewhere, it would be great it you could update it so that other users are aware of the new options in v4.0
