can't say for "all of them", but for e.g. inspire industrial printers come with free software that's few orders of magnitude more powerful that simplify3d, the problem is - it works only with inspire printers - these I tried myself. no "yearly fee" nothing.. you get free sw with free upgrades for life... hp jetfusion comes with free sw too (dunno how powerful I never tried myself, but I was told it's perfect and customizable and of course free)... 3dsystems/zcorp - same thing, free slicer ... you pay for cad tools (they all have huge palette of cad tools) but cam tools (slicer) is free with all of them .. cam systems are of course linked to their products only ..

I would gladly pay a reasonable monthly or yearly subscription fee to get more frequent updates. There are a LOT of features I would like to see in S3D and if a monthly $5 would make that happen, I am glad to pay.
