Re: Autolevelling integration for Robo 3D R1

The stock S3D profile for the auto-leveling R1 already has the macro commands required for auto-leveling. Have you tried the stock profile already?

Re: Autolevelling integration for Robo 3D R1

I have, and the start script is there and it runs G29. Before starting the print it goes through the same multi point leveling. It is after that it just seems like it was only going through the motions of auto leveling but not applying any adjustments. Any print larger than a few cm in the middle of the plate it has issues with dragging on the right front and too high on the left back. I can manually adjust the z screws to get it closer but the y axis doesn't seem to have an adjustment.

When using mattercontrol 1.4 (now using 1.5) it does the same multi point leveling as S3D, but it seems to actually use those adjustments and will print the entire bed area perfectly. I'd much rather use S3d though, even from using it on some small prints, the quality seems much better and supports are amazing.

Re: Autolevelling integration for Robo 3D R1

I'm having the same problem as Yogi. I wouldn't say that the auto-leveling *isn't* working, because as S3D is moving the head around the bed, the z rods are turning ever-so-slightly. Using MatterControl, it works perfectly across the whole bed. Using S3D, the back-left of the bed is too high and the front-right is bottoming out the head against the glass.

Help? I want to solve this *before* the trial period runs out, because if I can't get it to print, it doesn't do me any good...

I've never had to do anything besides adding a G29 into the starting script. Even if you go look at Marlin's auto-leveling documentation, that's all that is needed to use this feature.

Re: Autolevelling integration for Robo 3D R1

I found my problem!!!

Using auto-bed leveling, I found the rear-left of the print was too high, and the front-right was pressed against the glass. For 3D printers which use *two* z-axis limit switches, these switches may trigger at different heights. So when the z offset is compensated for the distance, it's not able to be accurate for both sides. This nearly caused me to return the software because it appears that MatterControl was able to handle this better (no idea why, even reviewed the gcode).

Once I realized this was possibly the problem, I confirmed it by doing the following:
* Home All
* Using the Z +0.01, I moved the head up until it just barely left the bed
* Record the Z number
* Raise Z by 10, move to other end of X axis
* Press "Home Z"
* Using the Z +0.01, I moved the head up until it just barely left the bed

The two values I got were 0.70 and 1.10. This was enough to make printing large objects impossible across the X axis.

Once I fixed the positioning of my Z level switches, it's printing *much* better!
