I'm having a similar problem, except my overhangs are 2.5mm. Sometimes S3D will generate supports for the upper cylinder and not the lower and other times it will create it for the lower and not the upper. A few times it even generated no supports at all.

At least this model only has 2 of these so it's pretty easy to manually add them back in. But this seems like a problem with the software.

It looks like you are using a support pillar resolution of 4mm and expecting it to accurate support a 2.5mm feature. That's not a good idea. You might want to go read the tutorial on support material (http://www.simplify3d.com/support/tutor ... tructures/).

To give you the short answer, just change you support pillar resolution to something closer to 1mm and it will do a much better job supporting small features. The resolution should be less than the minimum feature size you want to support.
