What setting changes other settings?

It is unclear in simplify3D, when one setting changes, what other settings downstream are also effected.

For instance:

A user sets the Default Printing Speed to 40%. She then changes the Outline Underspeed to 80%. What has just changed? Is she now printing at 80% of the 40% Default Printing Speed? Or 80% of the 100% printing speed that is defined for her printer?

To make matters more confusing, there are speed overrides to those potential speed overrides.

It would be much less confusing if, next to each setting, Simplify3D simply stated the actual speed that would be generated in the gcode file.

Thank you!

Nope! Take another look. Default speed is in mm/sec or mm/min. And all other speeds that are in percentages are related to that one speed.

Ah, right you are. I’m still confused though. If all speeds are directly (and only one step away) from the default speed, shouldn’t the following print speeds be equal? Why do they increase for each layer above the raft? This was an email from support (thanks guys):

“The First Layer Speed (Edit Process Settings > Layer) controls the speed of the raft base layer which is very important. The raft base layer will print at 25% of the First Layer Speed, the second layer will print at 50% and the 3 subsequent raft layers print at 150% of the First Layer Speed setting. For example, if your Default Printing Speed is 3000mm/min then the first layer of the raft will print at 375mm/min (0.25 x 0.5 x 3000mm/min), the second layer at 750mm/min (0.5 x 0.5 x 3000mm/min) and the top 3 layers at 2250mm/min (1.5 x 0.5 x 3000mm/min). Please let us know how this works or if you have any further questions.
