Issues with extruding

Hello there! I recently got my printer up and running again, and im working on calibrations.

I am currently struggling with the amount of plastic extruded. I am currently using 0,86 as extrusion multiplier, and the result of the test cube I printed looks like this:

Image

If I reduce the extrusion multiplier more I get rid of the lines on the side of the cube, but then I also get gaps in the top layer of the cube. If I increase the multiplier I get more ringing on the side, but the top layer looks better.

- I am using PLA
- 4 top solid layers (used to work fine with just 3 but now even 4 wont work)
- 30% infill

Do I HAVE to add more top layers or is there something else im missing that I can do?

Thanks for any help!

Re: Issues with extruding

hello, sorry for my bad English, but I try to give some tips:

Have you specified the correct nozzle diameter in the S3D? For example, if you have a 0.4 nozzle in the Printer and you only set 0.3 in S3D , this could be the reason.

Can you check if the extruder really delivers the right amount?
Mark on the filament and extrude e.g. 10cm, then you measure by the marking whether it really was 10cm.
If this is not the case, you have to adjust the steps via MM in the firmware.
I only paid attention to the steps with my do-it-yourself printer and more or less did not make any big settings in the S3D?

Re: Issues with extruding

Hello!

I have checked that the nozzle is set to the right one, and I have calibrated the feeder earlier too, but I guess I can do it over again to double check. I will post back when I have!

Edit: Looks like it was due to a wrong parameter for the extruder thermistor afte I had reinstalled my firmware. Its working now
