I just got aware that 4.0.1 is available for download. When I use the "check for update" function in my 4.0.0 Simplify it says "up-to-date". That's stupid.... Can someone look into this?

Its been like that since v4.0.1 was made available.

If you want 4.0.1, log onto your account and download the software as if its going to give you 4.0.....and it will be 4.0.1 that is downloaded.

Yeah sure but isn't the check for update function in a software meant to tell me that a new release is available? Whats the point then?

4.01 has its own crop of bugs, so I keep both 4.0 and 4.01 alive. I tend to run 4.0 unless I run into a build that won't slice with it.

The one that annoys me the most is the hosed start point settings.

I agree, what is the point of a "check for updates" feature if it does not ACTUALLY check for updates?

401 is to buggy, probably best to fix it before letting it go prime time. I was back on 400 within a minute because the shortcuts didn't work.

Just to balance the bias on this discussion.....I have been running v4.0.1 since a day or so after its release and I have had no problems with it!...and have had no need to go back to v4.0.0 to slice anything of my own. I have loaded earlier versions so as to assist others on the forum with issues with previous releases.

And, yes, there are issues with v4.0.1.....but in my experience there are less issues than in previous releases.

For a $150USD piece of software, that has a very specific function, that has a 6 to 12 month release cycle, that has a large community of people providing constant feedback, and is LITERALLY the ONLY product they produce as an entire company... there should be basically no bugs. At the very least they should be fixed almost instantly after being reported by their community, instead of being released as an "update" 6 months later. How could you not know, from basic QA alone, that your software can't even update itself. The best part is that the inability to update certainly wasn't caught in 4.0.0 and looking at the release notes:

Certainly wasn't fixed in 4.0.1 either, and there hasn't been an update in what? 9 months?
I like the software. I use it almost everyday for 3 separate printers.
BUT, as a Technical Project Manager for ~8 years, its clear that their management, software devs, and QA "team?" don't have their priorities in line or don't understand what a realistic customer facing, software release cycle should be.
Frankly, it is just disappointing.
