I did a forum search for this and found a post from 2014. I'm using Simplify3D version 4.0.1. I don't see the menu options that they are referring to. So is there a way to Copy and Paste the same item on the build platform? I want to print four(4) pieces of the same item at the same time.

Yes, click on one of the items to copy then do a Ctrl + C to copy then a Ctrl + V to paste.
You can also select the object in the upper left window.
Look under the edit menu for the duplicate model option..
