Simplify 3d and cubepro trio

Sorry if I'm missing something here, we have a cubepro trio that I am determined to not be a complete waste of money. Using 3D Systems own slicer the quality, even at max, was worse than we are getting from an Up Mini. This software was suggested as a way to get better prints from the very expensive printer that has been unloved for years here.
I've purchased Simplify3D and set the printer as the cubepro trio, but I get a bfb file out of the software and not a cubecode file. I've tried converting it using CodeX but the printer sites there heating for a lot longer than it did with 3D Systems own sliced code. I guess I thus have two questions:
1) Have I missed something in setting up Simplify3D that would allow me to get a cubecode file out? Or do I need another converter?
2) Is the only way to printer from Simplify3D to the CubePro Trio to connect it via direct USB cable?
Help greatly appreciated.
