How to avoid filling tiny spaces

Hello, printer community,

This topic probably already exists but I couldn't find it, all my apologies :oops:

In fact I regularly have small trajectory problems in my gCode that complicates printing for nothing. And I guess there has to be a parameter to set to avoid that.

On the first image, you can see that the printer must fill a thin strip, so it does it by zigzagging. I let you imagine how my Raise N2 vibrates!

On the second image it's a bit the same problem. The printer must fill tiny spaces between my inner perimeters. This makes the machine vibrate and retract for nothing.

Here, I print the same part all the time and I would like to be able to correct this little problem, thank you! :D

Try using Concentric external infill pattern. It may allow you to also reduce the number of perimeter shells.

Hi, thx for the advice but i don't think it can help me :cry:

I had to print waterproof and resistant piece then i only solve it by increase the number of perimeter shells :mrgreen:

Maybe try to set the "Minimum Infill Length" to a higher value? Infill tab.
Or maybe try using "Allow Single Extrusion" on the Advanced tab instead of "Allow Gap Fill"?

Not sure why you are using so many perimeter shells, but you could decrease that by 2 and the space would not be so small
If there is a reason for that many shells, set advanced tab: Allow single extrude fill and or increase the number of shells to eliminate the space in the center
.
The other route would be to investigate your firmware Jerk setting and reduce that. I have found tiny parts are stronger with that type of fill compared to a single extrude and my printer has no issue with excessive vibration. The default jerk setting on my printer is very low and I do not print fast. Most small parts (D&D miniatures) are printed at 35 mms

My recommended solution.....despite being rejected on the strength of an optional suggestion...….still stands as a plain and simple answer to the reported issue.

Dkightley : Your solution is probably the simpliest and the better. But I make this piece for the food industry and they are regularly immersed. They must be completely waterproof so that there is no standing water and prevent the proliferation of bacteria. The only way I found is to increase the number of shells, but I may be wrong. Now that my impression is cleaner I will try to lower the number of shells from 7 to 5 and see what it's like. Thank you.

That does seem to correct the problem. However I am not that my waterproofing is always good since the top layer now ends in a single pass. To be tested! Usefull if I pref keep my number of shells, thanks.

My recommended solution.....and allow me to repeat it seeing as you've chosen to misread it...…. is:

"Try using Concentric external infill pattern."

The comment about the number of perimeters was a throw-away comment that I added as A COMMENT!
