One cool technique I had fun working up is using Testor model decal sheets to create full color custom details to put on my print. It worked out great!

Congrats on the model and article it looks very nice. I noticed from the link it said "After much experimentation Don found that Scotch painter tape, scrubbed with isopropyl alcohol worked perfect for him".

I used to use that too but on large flat prints (say a large robot chassis) the painters tape would be pulled up by the cooling PLA. Many people online suggested using extra-hold hair spray. At first I thought that was crazy but it worked much much better than painters tape.

Just a thought and again congrats with the model.

Just checked my local bookstore - the June issue isn't out yet but I plan to buy it. Is the STL file included in the article or how do you get it?

Yup, the STL file is at the link above. They didn't make it very obvious with a big button or something. It's actually just a link inside some text. I included an OBJ file as well as a JPG file for printing a decal for the windows and logos.

Ahhhh....I scanned the PSci article but should have just looked at your post here, where the STL link is clearly provided. Oops
