Printer stops for no reason and creates blob

Hello everyone,

on this particular object I have the problem that the printer stops at some point for no reason and creates a blob meanwhile. After printing the skirt flawlessly the printer starts printing the outline of the "B". 95 % of the way around the outline just before getting from the straight bottom line to the lower curve the printhead stops and stays in place for a fraction of a second. However, this is enough that a blob forms underneath. the printer only does this for the 3 outer lines of the B, with the inner ones there is no problem. Any ideas on what might cause this issue and how to resolve it? I tried running the same process on a different model and theres no such problem, so I figure it must be related to the model, but I can´t see how. Please help!

One thing is to make sure the model is ok by running it through a fixer such as netfabb or makeprintable.com.

Are you printing via USB? If so then try from the SD card and see if it is different.

I´m printing via SD-Card.

Thanks for the hint with makeprintable.com The website says the model is all good...

I can't look at the files at the time but I might load it up and in the print preview look at it layer by layer stating at the bottom and look for anything that might seem odd.
See if you can isolate the spot where it pauses and see if you see anything there that might look funny.

I might try to re-slice with some minor stings changes and save to a different card and see if it helps.

Not sure what else to add.

I made a picture of the printed letter. It looks familiar with the Z-scar, but it´s not. I can´t see anything in the print-preview that hints at any abnormalities...
Yeah, I will try reslicing, maybe that helps.

Turns out there is a problem with slicing/meshing. I tried reducing the number of triangles and I was successful in removing the blob-scar. However, the form of the letter suffered from this procedure even at very moderate triangle reductions. So I loaded the stl into meshmixer and remeshed it to a much larger amount of triangles. The bad sections which were probably the root cause of my problem still remained so I reduced the triangle count while retaining the outer boundaries (=shape of the letter). That way I received a mesh that was full of small triangles (see picture) which works very well for me now.

Thanks!
