Simple UI selection of wipe position

I often work with my printer remotely using remote monitoring.

If I'm printing small objects I have the option to perform multiple sequential print runs manually if I want to tweak things without being there to remove the prints. Obviously I need to offset the location of each.

Where this falls down is that the extruder wipe always happens at the same place. If there were a simple "offset" setting which I would set (or some other way of selecting a different location) it would mean that I could run multiple jobs without the wipe from the previous job getting in the way.

I'm not sure how widely useful this would be, but it would certainly help me.

Thanks

Maybe turn the wipe off and use a skirt with 3-4 passes as the wipe for each piece. On a large printer I have I use the skirt as my prime and wipe run.

Re: Simple UI selection of wipe position

Yes, I can see that that could help, but ideally a separate setting would be better still as it would divorce the one function from the other. That is, I may have very specific requirements of a skirt or brim and adding the possible variables from a wipe could compromise that. Also, the normal wipe does quite a long prime first which extrudes quite a lot of filament and it would be unhelpful to have this on the bed, rather than hanging off it.

I can see that this is probably a very niche requirement, but if one doesn't ask...

Thank you for your suggestion though. It would be a good fallback, certainly.

Re: Simple UI selection of wipe position

Does your printer have a designated wiping area with a physical object used to clean the nozzle or do you envision this being an area on the bed thats specified as wipe / purging?

Re: Simple UI selection of wipe position

it doesn't have a specified area as such but what I do at present is apply a layer of blue tape at the default S3D location to make the wipe there more positive. In practice this is the front right corner of the bed, so I have a triangle of one (or two) layers of tape across that corner. This seems to work well.

If the modified facility stepped along one side of the bed, say, then that would just need a strip of tape along that edge to perform the same function.

Thank you

Re: Simple UI selection of wipe position

The wipe is likely coded in the starting script. You can alter the start script to meet your needs. In the instance of manually printing multiple objects remotely without being present, I'd suggest removing the wiping from the starting script to avoid potential collisions with the axes being moved and your previously printed parts left on the bed.

Re: Simple UI selection of wipe position

OK, thank you. Perhaps I'll try it that way then. It did seem like a bit of a niche requirement when I suggested it ;)

Thanks for you help
