Different layer heights for outer layers only

Hello all,
I have a print that's quite large and I only require detail at the inner parts of the model. Problem is that the area I need greater detail is from bottom to top which requires I have to have a lower layer height for the whole model. The image will give an idea.
I was thinking about making a separate piece and have the higher detail piece be able to snap into the outer piece but if I can solve this in an easier way that would be awesome.
Thanks for the help!

One possible thing you could do is to do your layers at .1 let's say and then do the infill as every other layer so it would be .2.
Check out the infill tab for this.

I don't think you can do what you are asking at this time but here is some food for thought.
How many do you need to print? I would guess a lot if you are spending time trying to reduce print time with multiple resolutions.
How much time are you saving between a complete print at each of the 2 resolutions you want to utilize? And does the fabrication time really matter enough to redesign the part making it 2 parts and reducing the over all strength of the part compared to a single piece?
To reduce time maybe do some tests to determine minimum required infill and top/bottom/shell layers to achieve your needed strength rather than altering resolution if finish is most important.

this is exactly how you get different layer height for outer layer only

Another approach - the one I use...
But, it requires making your part into two separate parts: One for the inner section and one for the outer section.
One way to do that (if you're not CAD skilled) is to cut a hole inside (leaving only the outer section).
Then, cut the outer section, leaving only the inner section.
Load them into s3d but, don't Auto Center/Arrange (turn Auto center off in Pref's)
Then use two processes.
Example shows a Boss on a mounting Plate.
The Boss has 5 shells (for threading with a Tap) and 3 layers.
The Plate has 1 shell and 2 layers.
I do this quite often

Thank you for this strategy - I haven't tried that out yet. I appreciate your help!

Very good point - structural integrity is important for this item and I can certainly wait to have it printed right the first time - it's good to hear this - sometimes the shortcut is having some patience ey (steadily working on this one haha). I appreciate your time - thank you!

Oh very nice - I can certainly do what you're describing using Fusion360. I'm guessing the two parts will merge so long I have the printing mode set to continuous printing (layer by layer) for the separate processes? Thank you for your time - I appreciate your help!
