Supports not reach base of part

Gday all. Not a newbie here but not an expert either.

Supports look good in Simplify3D but don't touch in the printed part. I'm printing in PLA on a CR-10 so would expect that the print hasn't warped that much to lift off the supports. Bed temp is 65 degrees C and extruder is 200 C. As you can see in the photo there is quite a big gap. Is this normal or is this a bug? FYI the bottom of the part is a shallow tapering cone with a steady declining angle of 15 degrees from the outside top the inside.

You possibly want to tweak some settings here. If you change the size of the support pillars this will give you better granularity which would smooth out changes in angle. Similarly, if you extend the Extra Inflation Distance, it will move closer to the filleted edge which may help too.

Also try tweaking the Max overhang angle. Not sure which way....try 80deg first. If no improvement, try 10deg.
