I'm still learning on 3D printing and have just started on vases. As such I'm using the spiral/corkscrew/vase checkbox on the Layer tab to look to avoid any seams.
I still seem to get seams though, which do show in the print preview. Having played around with a few settings, the only way I seem to be able to get them to disappear is by unchecking "Force retraction between layers" in the Advanced tab.
If this is the valid solution then great, but otherwise what is my problem please? I assumed that the Vase checkbox would handle any settings that would limit it (it even gives a pop up to warn this), but if it's not the case then I'll take note.

If you're getting seams (ie start/end of extrusions) when slicing with the "Vase mode" option set then you probably have more than one "perimeter" in your model.
To attempt to explain what I mean, consider a solid cylinder....it has one continuous perimeter running around the outside.
Now let's consider a hollow cylinder...a hollow cylinder has two perimeters; one running around the outside, and a second one, running around the outside of the hole.
A solid cylinder WILL slice in vase mode, whereas a hollow cylinder will NOT resolve a single spiral. Its impossible!!
Taking the above into consideration, I believe your model is hollow. A simple cure may be to tick the Merge all outlines into a single solid model flag radio button on the Other tab. Alternatively, revisit your CAD package and make the vase a solid object.

Great thank you. I believe you are correct as the model does have a circular inner perimeter and then the patterned external one. I assumed that the slicer would corkscrew out and then in, picking up both, but clearly not!
