Hello!

It is possible to strengthen areas in the model with a higer infill?
I want to print fast (low infill) but at some locations I want to print a high infill.
E.g. a hole with more shells than the rest of the model.
Or on areas, where higher forces will touch the surface I want to print pillars in the model.

This is a tricky one, since I really don't have a picture of what you're printing or free body diagram to see where the projected forces are going to be coming from. There are a few things you could do though

1. Increase the infill for certain regions of the part, this is done on a height basis though. So from the start 0 mm to 10 mm tall it could be 30% infill, from 10 mm to 25 mm it could be 100% infill, then back to 30%. This is doable through creating multiple processes and using the advanced tab where it asks you "start printing height" and "stop printing height".

2. The easier way to set this up imo is to have more outline/perimeter shells, solid top layers and solid bottom layers in the layer tab. If you think about how our bones are made, they have a hard outside and soft inside, well you definitely want to increase the thickness of the outsides and having a higher infill of 50% or more for the inside wouldn't hurt.


These are the default numbers, try 5-6 for the top/bottom layers and 3-4 for perimeter shells.

I just did this to strengthen the base of a part.

* add 2nd process that's really just the same process you already are using.
* modify process 1 to stop at X mm
* modify process 2 to start at X mm and stop at Y mm
* add a 3rd process that's the same process again
* modify 3rd process to start at Y mm
lastly modify 2nd process to have more shells, higher infill or whatever you need.

I only needed two processes since I just made the base stronger than the top. Of course you can modify whatever else you want per process.

when prepare to print just select all the processes.

Is there a way to select areas not per layer. Would only need holes or matching dovetail ares.
