Rep 2 prints don't print well - first layer is bad

I used to love Simplify3d but at some point I had to go back to Maker Desktop. i recently had a Maker Desktop X3G fail on me a few times so i tried Simplify3d again. I'm all updated on firmwares and softwares here and i set up my Simplify3d and was quickly reminded why i left. While the base layer comes out great on Maker the Simplify3d base layer is bad, especially on far out edges. It just has rolling-back (curling) filiment and overall bad quality while the Maker on the same exact object is great.

What can I do to fix this. I think i started with my STL from NetFabb. Should I just go straight for the obj? I guess I could try the OBJ next and see what happens.

I'm printing right to the tape no raft which is how i do most of my printing and i have extensive experience with this. Tons. The funny thing is this is on my friends Rep 2 and it looks just like it was on mine when I stopped using Simplify3D.

What happened? did something change. Is there a way to fix this? Should I start with OBJ?

I can attach a picture if needed. Its the same thing over and over. The first layer is just full of tore up sections and inconsistent extrusion.

Thanks.

Attached image. It looks like the bed is uneven and/or needs to be releveled but with out touching it i'm printing the same object using Maker Desktop in the same way and that same base layer is far better.

I've done a lot of printing so i am used to leveling. May be for Simlify3d i need to make it really tight?

I have a glass plate i can try. Also I suppose i could try a raft. may be glass plate plus raft will do it.

I think there once was a time where all of my prints (done just like this) were Simplify3d. I dont know what happened, if i started to print larger prints or what.

Could my settings have gotten messed up? What would i do to sure-fire reset all of my Replicator 2 settings to what the company would have me use? Is there a way to nuke it all and get a fresh start on that?

As I explained in an earlier thread, you may need to adjust your first layer settings to get the same "squish" effect you had probably setup previously in versions prior to 4.1.

solution proposed in the earlier thread: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=6876#p46986
