DIY supports Vase Mode

Quick question;
My PET-G prints best with no infill and single extrusion walls for transparent clarity. So Thin walls, high layer height, with no infill has been great. However, 'vase mode' produces better thin walls for this material for me. But, no support structures are allowed in 'vase mode'. So which other settings are associated with vase mode besides infill, single extrusion walls, and retraction? I would like to have the option to do supports in vase mode if possible or just do non vase mode with similar vase mode settings. Here is my solution for now, which works kinda of like inserting a threaded nut mid print.

I could just cad some supports and cut them off later, would that be the best way?
