Here is a classic workflow situation:

1) playing with manual support generation, decide the model itself could be impoved;

2) head over to CAD package, modify and save as .STL file;

3) move back to simplify, delete the existing STL;

4) add the new STL;

5) move the new STL to the right position in the simplify workspace / printer bed;

6) reopen manual support generation;

7) change the support overhang angle etc;

8) generate custom supports;

9) move custom supports about as necessary;


Proposition is that we eliminate some of these steps.

Would like to be able to hit "command-R" in Simplify when the model is selected and have Simplify reload that model, which means that if a new model has been saved in the same directory and with the same filename that the NEW model will refresh over the old one.

Simplify should be able to position the model at the same location in the browser because the orientation of the model within the file won't have changed.

Simplify should therefore be able to maintain any custom support settings and, in particular, positions, saving all that re-generation and repositioning stuff.

Thus the modeller can just carry on where s/he left off before heading off to the CAD package.

This sort of thing happens a LOT.

To be able to refresh models from the computer hard drive would Simplify our lives a lot.
