Really annoyed now of "autoconfigure for material"

The presets (for all other machines) have this options of choosing PLA, ABS, NYLON , quality low, medium, high etc...
I CAN*T get it to work for my K8200.
If i load a preset setting, edit machine settings etc.. all is gone as soon i export and import it. I mean the buttons and presets are gone.
And even when i am just editing and switching between tabs the setting i just did vanish. Like lo, medium and high layerheight. If i change medium to .25 and then flick to high quality and back to
medium, then as sure it have got back to 0.2 layers. I does not remember the settings i make.
I have been since i bought the software been running separate profiles for all my materials, just because quick presets never have worked for me.
Or have i missed something very important to know?? Is it not supposed to work as i think?

I have seen this many times on the Mac version. It is a very annoying bug. I have not yet experienced this on the Windows version (I don't use it much, maybe it also has this problem).
The work around is to export the original process without any modification, and then modify the exported text file using a text editor, and then import that. Always keep a copy of the original exported process with a different file name so that you can go back if you mess up the process file.

i thought it was supposed to work that way. idk. i have the settings there if i load a stock profile off the list. this gives me all the options. once i modify and save the profile its not a printer specific profile its a custom profile so you lose the radio boxes. if i drop down the list of profiles and pick one i can make all the changes i want and the boxes stay there. they will not return if you save and reload the profile again though. it needs to be a stock default profile off the list. are you seeing behavior different than that? i am on a mac btw

If you mess up any of the pre-configured profiles, you can also go to Help>Reset All settings to get all stock profiles back to default.

This doesn't happen in Windows. It's a bug in the Mac version.
I just verified it right now in Windows. Exporting your process works fine in Windows every time, keeping all the material and quality buttons present. On my Mac laptop all the material and quality buttons disappear when you export your process. If I look at the Mac created process file I can see that the XML statements for all the material and quality sections are simply not there. It doesn't even have empty sections for them. It's as if the XML didn't completely write the process file. If done in Windows they are there as they should be.

BaronWilliams:
You are wrong.
I am actually using Windows. And it does this every time i try to edit the multiconfigs.
So i wonder why you other people on pc get it to work.
And perhaps i should mention i have S3D installed on 2 win7 (64bit) machines, and both have the same problem.
One is Win7 home version and the other Win7 Pro.
I can even se it quickly reverting to original settings in the exact moment i press export.

I just tried another thing that thought might be the problem.
I have always saved in users/myname/ as it wants to originally.
I copied all fff's to the program folder instead, but it does the same thing there.
Even if i just change high quality setting to 0.15 layer instead of default 0.1, it forgets it when clicking medium setting and back to high..

Maybe this is a 32-bit versus 64-bit OS issue?
I am using Simplify3D 2.1.1 on Windows XP SP3 (which is 32-bit) and on my Mac (OS X 10.8.3). I only see this problem of option buttons disappearing on my Mac. I can do it over and over and see the problem only on my Mac.
I don't see how using Windows 7 should make any difference unless it's 64-bit. I do have Windows 7 64-bit which I could try it on.
Maybe there's some setting causing this that I have different on my Windows version of Simplify3D? I don't know. But I definitely only have this problem on my Mac version.

i would suggest opening up the fff file in a text editor and make any of the necessary changes. I have one I made for my reprap machine, I remember I had to edit it by hand to add a few more materials and change some names of them, but since I hand edited the xml/fff file, it works perfectly/as it should for me
