Create an option for PVA supports where the printer will print in PVA for a few layers at any point that touches the object. All other support material would be whatever the material the object is being printed with. Maybe even another option in which every so many layers of support is PVA, so it will break up into smaller bits when submerged in water.

Ask....and you shall get! In the existing software, that is.....
