FlashForge x S3D will heat, won't print left nozzle

Hi,

Since I purchased S3D, printing was always hit or miss over USB for the left nozzle. Right would work most of the time however the left might have worked 1-5% max...if ever. Frankly I can't remember the left nozzle ever printing. The software will heat up the nozzle, the bed when I select the left nozzle but not go beyond that. Printing over a SD card isn't a problem, both nozzles work more than fine.

Not sure where the communication goes buggy for the left nozzle printing but if anyone has a suggestion please let me know.

Thanks!

This sounds like a well-known long-time "feature" of S3D that I've been living with from the beginning.
You can't use the left extruder unless you also heat the right extruder.
You don't have to heat the right extruder to full working temperature, however--just pick some temperature that's above normal room temperature, so that S3D gets to heat it and recognize that it's ready.

That's nuts! I don't think I've come across that tip but I'll give that a try today. Could save my sanity!!

Just a suggestion, make sure you're using the right profile in the FFF Settings window. The start up scripts appear to have toolhead information for which hot end it addresses.
So it won't work if you have the FlashForge right extruder profile selected and in the associated tabs, select the left extruder. The startup script in the right extruder profile does not ever address the left extruder toolhead and will never heat it up or tell the printer to use it in the G-Code, as well as the left extruder profile never addresses the right extruder toolhead.
If both extruders are being heated up/addressed, then you're most likely selecting the "both extruders" profile which waits for both respective hot ends to reach target temperature before continuing in the G-Code.
