Cutting 1 layer away, partially

HI,

i am having a little problem with a part i am trying to run through Simplyfy 3D.

Its a 1 mm thick part, and for some reason, S3D cuts part of 1st layer, that does so that 2nd layer is writing in mid air (ok, at 0.2mm) but its quite hard for the printer to print mid air, and when i look at the part it SHOULD be all the way to the bed, funny thing top layer does NOT have the same line missing, so i tried to turn the part, and same thing, no 1st layer but all the rest are fine.

How do i attach a file here?

Kind regards
Frank

Well, found a workaround,

The reason for the missing 1 layer is still a mystery, but after i altered the missing line from being 0,5 mm to 1 mm the issue disappeared.

This does NOT mean that S3D does not have a flaw, but i worked around it, i can remake the OBJ file that "misses" 1 layer, if you want to investigate the issue further.

Regards
Frank

We would absolutely love to take a further look at this. Could you post the OBJ or ideally the Factory File from Simplify3D with the OBJ present? You can attach files by clicking the 'Attachments' tab or by dragging and dropping them into the message box. I included a screenshot of the Attachments tab as it is tough to describe where it is.

Very simple solution....took seconds to identify and resolve:

Advanced tab.....Thin wall behaviour....change External Thin Wall Type to "Allow single extrusion walls".
