Hi,
I have done quite a few parts with support and some with raft, and i must say, the raft is impressive, and supports are FAR FROM. IMO Rafts are Supports and supports are just plain irritating.
A raft is easy to take away, leaving little to no filament, where it should not be, but supports, most of it is left behind, and it very difficult to remove, would it be possible to make rafts INSTEAD of supports?
If Raft support is not an option:
- Better supports control, it is in most cases so close to what its not supporting, that its almost fused together, could we get at setting "Leave x.xx mm room between Support and Part"?
- Could i define the support to do 2 Raft top layers on top of the support, and then speed down the first actual layer being printer on the top part of the support? Just like you do on Rafts. Setting "Use Raft style Support top. (Speeds down next layer printing speed, like Rafts)"
- A setting to tell what layers to support, and what layers NOT to do support for. A list like Layer Cooling, where you can turn on/off supports from layer to layer, individually. Sometimes holes that are supported are to small for support as they are done fine in a layer or 2. EXCEPTION, if a support is parsing through a no support zone, it should continue, through the no supportzone, until it hits, what it supports.
- When Support are activated in FFF Settings, it ALWAYS makes supports, please make an option to generate supports ONLY if defined in print, it has happened a few times i've forgotten to turn off supports, and then its added in processing, because there is support activated. It warns me if i have made a support and not activated it in FFF Settings, but it does NOT warn me, when i've made no supports, but it is active in FFF Settings. Setting in Support where you in italic is writing "Only used if manual support is not defined", make that a checkbox to activate or deactivate, new text should be, "Only use Support for manually defined parts", no reason its ALWAYS on, this also makes it possible to have parts that need supports and some that do not in the same print.
Regards
Frank
