Simplify3D User Forum

I have a test piece made up of two files. To get them in the correct position relative to each other i have added four small cubes at the corners. Without these the top part of the test piece will be positioned on the printer bed. i have set up two processes hence I can use different processes for each of the two parts of the model. I now want to generate 1mm supports for the bottom model and 4mm supports between the top model and the bottom model. I have generated 1mm supports for the bottom model, but when I generate 4mm supports for the top model the supports go down to the printer bed thereby overwriting the smaller supports last the bottom.
Any suggestions?
The actual model will be quite large and i don't want to start manually removing supports and manually entering other supports. There are hundreds of supports involved.

Not possible for the final model I want to print. This is just a test piece to try to achieve a technique I need to do for my final model.

Can you attach the factory file for this test piece so we can take a look at exactly what you're experiencing.

File menu ===>Save Factory File

Principally there is no problem, it will be a setting, perhaps Extra Inflation Distance > zero?

Doug - I will get back to you. Not sure if my test piece is going to help me now. I am modelling an LNWR coach! It is all going to pot at the moment. For some reason I can't load the full STL file into S3D. I will work on it for a while till I can sort that out then I will get back to you by email. Good to hear from you. Not seen you at exhibitions for a while.

So here is my problem and I am going mental trying to determine what is going wrong. Any help will be appreciated. I am using AutoCad 2018 for MAC running on OS Mojave. I have drawn up a single compartment of a model railway coach in 3D. I then export the components in to an .stl file. The following shows the model in AutoCad and the imported file into Simpify 3D. This works fine.
I then add a beading to the side of the compartment and export this in to an .stl file. When imported into Simplify 3D some of the individual components are missing as shown below.
I am certain the problem is not in the importing of the file into Simplify 3D, it is in the exporting from AutoCad. I have tried redrawing some of the components, but the components exported fail to appear in a random manner. I am only interested in finding out what is wrong with my drawing within AutoCad and not redrawing in any other software!

Once you have loaded the stl file into S3D, try selecting Separate Connected Surfaces on the Mesh dropdown menu.

I'm wondering if the stl file contains multiple meshes.....something that S3D has difficulty dealing with. If I'm right, once you'v separated the meshes.....which will show as more than one entry in the model list.....then things should slice correctly.
