Extruder Tiny Steps?

Why does S3D yield such teeny tiny steps in the gcode?
My machine can't even do these tiny increments, all it does is stutter like a machine gun and nothing comes out!
Example:
G1 X113.336 Y110.144 E0.0097
G1 X113.471 Y110.369 E0.0105
G1 X112.296 Y111.544 E0.0663
G1 X112.720 Y111.799 E0.0197
Really? .0097 ???
